Before making a commitment to engineering and manufacturing wide planks which decorators and designers were clamoring for, Appalachian technicians went to the lab for further tests on strength, stability and hardness.

The problems with floors made of wide solid planks are well known and include bowing, cupping and buckling among many others.

As we anticipated, Appalachian's engineering approach assures simple and foolproof installations on, below and above grade if directions are followed. Thus the 6¼" wide Vineyard Collection was created.

The planks, with a nominal thickness of ½" (11.9 mm), feature cross-locked construction with oak or better cores, EagleT Tongue & Groove milling, and our low-gloss Duratina® aluminum oxide finish. This thorough attention to detail enables Appalachian to protect homeowners with lifetime warranties for structural integrity and adhesion. There is a 25-year finish wear-through guarantee.

The collection was expanded for 2004 with the addition of two species, Pine and Elm in one color each, to the original assortment of Maple, Hickory and Oak. A new shade of Maple makes a total of 10 colors in 5 species.
