 Fibers

Nylon carpet is strong, easy to dye, resilient, and naturally water resistant water stains are easily cleaned with a water absorbing cloth or towel. Nylon carpet works well for high traffic areas, because it is durable, static free, maintains fiber height, and resists soiling, mildew, and staining.

                | | Olefin (polypropylene) is also a common carpet flooring material. Olefin works best in loop carpets such as Berbers.   It is strong (resisting abrasion), mildew resistant, moisture resistant, and easy to clean (bleach can be used safely in some cases).  Olefin carpet is typically the most affordable carpeting.
Polyester carpet is luxurious, durable against abrasions, easy to clean, and resistant to water soluble stains. Polyester carpet is also able to achieve bright neon colors, unlike other fibers.
Wool: Wool is the classic favorite, offering both luxury and performance. Wool makes excellent berber carpet, plush carpet, and frieze carpet. It is considered the premium carpet fiber as it is strong, durable, yet feels soft and comes in beautiful colors. It cleans well and is naturally stain and soil resistant, but is generally much more expensive than synthetic fibers. | |
